Meta: Keep your AI tools away from our face!

Meta announced that the company will be “developing” an AI tool that can determine a user’s age based on visual, physical characteristics. Anything that uses sensitive info, whether it be our government ID or photos online, is dangerous and puts all of us in harm’s way.

Meta can brand this newest form of online ID checks however they want. AI tool, face scanning, biometric recognition, crystal ball, or Hogwarts sorting hat: No matter what Meta calls it, we are not fooled. Big tech companies like Meta have profited for years off of our sensitive personal data to sell their creepy targeted ads and have a history of colluding with law enforcement and other government actors to repress and censor speech. To make matters worse– these online ID checks are often misleading, couched in terms like ‘age assurance’ and “kids online safety” that cover up its dangers.

We demand Meta keep away its AI tools and all forms of online ID checks away from our face!

I demand that Meta stop their plan to use AI surveillance tools to scan all of our faces. This is a clear breach of privacy and will not keep young people safe. We see right through this attempt to collect even more of our information…Keep your AI tools and all forms of online ID checks away from our face.
