Billboard points out FTC failures & decries Chairman Ferguson’s wasteful stunt to bully trans kids
A billboard truck spent Wednesday circling the FTC, telling them to focus on Big Tech, grocery prices, and the dangers of privacy-destroying data brokers—instead of holding an out-of-scope workshop on gender-affirming care. This will be followed by a counter-event hosted by Fight for the Future, Public Knowledge, LGBT Tech and other advocates, calling out the misuse of the FTC weaponized against trans kids and their families and illustrating the ways that Trump’s FTC is abdicating its responsibility to working families in favor of letting billionaires and corporations run amuck and doing the Heritage Foundation’s bidding.
As the FTC holds a extremely dangerous and certainly out-of-agency scope “workshop” on gender-affirming care for trans kids, a billboard truck circled their building—asking them to refocus on their actual jobs.

This “workshop”, criticized as an ideologically-motivated waste of taxpayer dollars without an opportunity for public comment by members of Congress—is meant to draw attention away from the Trump administration’s failure to investigate big tech oligarchs and stop data brokers from fueling murders.
Coming on the heels of this action and the FTC’s workshop, Sarah Philips, campaigner at Fight for the Future, said: “FTC Chairman Ferguson has made it abundantly clear that he hates trans people, and his irrational cruelty is clouding his judgment and ability to perform his job. This so-called “workshop” is wildly out of the scope of the FTC—which as an agency should never get in between a person and the decisions they make with their doctor. What the FTC is doing is conducting a huge showboating waste of resources, aimed to punch down on vulnerable kids and their families. Doing stunts like this to fuel hate represents a total betrayal of every family in the United States, who rely on the FTC to focus on it’s actual job: protecting consumers from Big Tech, from rising grocery prices, and from privacy-destroying data brokers who don’t care who dies so long as they make a buck. Today, Chairman Ferguson is showing his true colors—he didn’t take the FTC chair to protect consumers, he just wants to feed the slathering maw of freaky bigots like him to gain favor with the rightwing bigots in power instead of focusing on the multitude of real problems all families face.”
